Founded in 1787 as York Academy, York College of Pennsylvania is a private college located in south central Pennsylvania with an enrollment of approximately 4,700 undergraduate and 300 graduate students. The Position
York College of Pennsylvania seeks a dynamic and experienced higher education admissions professional who will build on the momentum and growing recognition of York College and lead a comprehensive undergraduate student recruitment program. Reporting to the Dean of Enrollment Management, the Director of Admissions provides direction and oversight in implementing a strong customer service oriented admission and recruitment model. The Director is responsible for developing strategies to attract, recruit, and enroll a highly qualified, talented, and diverse student body in a manner that supports the College’s recruitment, admissions, and retention goals. Additionally, the Director of Admissions ensures that all core areas of the recruitment operation are achieving expected levels of performance. The Director of Admissions is responsible for identifying and implementing best practices and processes and identifying and developing a significant presence in major markets in the Mid-Atlantic and beyond. This position also includes identifying and deploying strategies to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the admissions and recruitment process. The Director of Admissions is a key member of the Enrollment Management team and supervises nine counselors and a robust territory management system.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s preferred. At least five years of progressively responsible experience in admissions or recruitment including management and supervisory and budget oversight roles are required. An understanding of best practices in admissions and recruitment, data-driven decision making, and demonstrated success in an admissions role at an institution that is tuition-driven is expected. The Director of Admissions must be an organized, creative, collaborative, engaged, and energetic professional. Evidence of outstanding interpersonal skills, expertise in administration and management of recruitment programs, demonstrated proficiencies in information technology appropriate to admissions offices, and a commitment to the core values of higher education and York College is expected. Superior oral, written, and presentation skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with internal and external partners, will be also expected. Proven success recruiting and retaining a diverse student body and in working collaboratively across departments is also expected.
